NIŠ INTERNATIONAL: SERBIA, BULGARIA, AND GREECE ARE AMONG THE GI AND NO-GI STANDOUTSa year ago

With the arrival of spring in Serbia, athletes from the icy European region gathered in the modern city of Nis to fight for the top of the podium in the AJP Tour Niš International Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2023. With gi and no-gi bouts, the tournament, held at the Mika Antić school gym on March 25th, held some matches worth remembering.

Starting with no-gi, at the professional black belt under 120kg, Bulgarian Alexandar Alexandrov was the standout name, as he submitted Serbian Vladimir Bulatovic and took the gold. Among the brown belts in master 1, a duel between Greece and Macedonia marked the final for the under 77kg title. Representing the former, Evangelos Vrachnism emerged as the winner against Marjan Zikov, with a score of 1-0.

In the gi category, at professional purple belt, Slovakian Nikolas Kral won the 85kg division gold, submitting Bulgarian Plamen Penev in the last fight. In the 94kg purple belt division, the Serbian Kristijan Jovanovic, from BJJ Caminho, came out on top against Macedonian Ivan Trajchev to take the title of division champion.
