For its debut edition, on October 20th, the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship brought together a certified selection of Jiu-Jitsu stars and renowned MMA athletes. And now, a last-minute change to the night’s co-main event has guaranteed even more action to the 14-fight card to be held in the UAE’s capital.

The Italian Marvin Vettori, an athlete who is in the UFC’s top 5 middleweights, enters the ADXC1 to face Tarek Suleiman. Marvin was added to replace fellow UFC athlete Belal Muhammad, who is leaving the card due to changes in his training schedule.

Vettori will take part in a no-gi duel with five rounds of five minutes in the ADXC ruleset and the match will take place inside the now familiar eight-sided cage. Marvin has 9 victories by submission in MMA, most of them via neck attacks like guillotines and rear-naked chokes. In the UFC, he beat Jiu-Jitsu black belts such as Paulo «Borrachinha» Costa, Cezar «Mutante» Ferreira, and Vitor Miranda, in addition to submitting Alberto Uda in his debut in the organization, with a guillotine choke.

Marvin is going to face the local MMA Star Tarek Suleiman, a Syrian fighter currently challenging the middleweight athletes in the UAE Warriors with his well-rounded submissions. With 12 wins in his career, Tarek took six of those via submission, with attacks on the neck usually being his weapon of choice.

In addition to the clash between Marvin Vettori and Tarek Suleiman, the ADXC debut will host the no-gi main event, in which Neiman Gracie will go toe-to-toe with Ben Henderson. The event will also feature a GI main event, in which old rivals Isaque Bahiense and Gustavo Batista will put their names on the line and collide against each other for the win. With fights between gi and no-gi, the ADXC 1 has all the makings of a memorable tournament for athletes and fight fans alike.
