Last Saturday, April 15th, the AJP Tour Sweden National Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2023 reached the city of Gothenburg for another round of action. With three fight areas spread across the Almåsskolans Sporthall, athletes of all graduations stepped up to the challenge and fought to rise through the federation's ranks.
Standing as the event's highlight, the Brazilian black belt Marcos Carrozzino (GFTeam) was unstoppable. In a memorable campaign, Marcos fought for the Professional 94kg division with and without the gi, submitting every opponent that dared stand on his way to success.
On the gi, Marcos had two Swedish opponents. First, he defeated Max Hederstrom (Gladius MMA) with little less than a minute on the clock to reach the final, which saw him going up against Daniel Eklund (Atos). In a bout that lasted less than a minute, Marcos went all out in the gold round and put the score at 6-0 before ultimately submitting his adversary.
The No-Gi Professional 94kg division was almost a déjà vu for Marcos. Max Hederstrom and Daniel Eklund faced the Brazilian in the same order at the bracket and were met with the same results. In the semifinal, the scoreboard counted 5-2 in favor of Marcos before he submitted Max. Then, in the final round, Daniel Eklund was once again unable to contain the GFTeam athlete, who landed a 6-1 before crowning his campaign with his fourth and final submission to take home the double gold.
